Grey squirrel roof entry: coordinating repairs with control

A damaged roof opening may be both a building defect and an animal access point. Repair timing matters where squirrels may still be inside, and the species needs confirming before action.

Explain the building work

Tell the technician about damaged soffits, missing materials and any roofer booked to attend. Provide outside photographs taken from the ground. Do not block a suspected entrance while activity remains unassessed.

Agree a sequence

Ask how the contractor will assess occupancy and when repairs should proceed. Building repairs may need a roofer rather than a pest technician, so confirm who is responsible. The aim is a coordinated plan for the animal activity and the roof defect, with checks afterwards instead of simply filling the most visible gap.

Include possible connected areas

A roof opening may lead into more than one section of the loft or adjoining building. Tell the contractor about extensions and inaccessible voids. Repair plans should acknowledge those limits so closing one point is not presented as proof that every animal or route has been assessed.
