Cockroaches behind appliances: why access and moisture matter

Warm, sheltered spaces behind kitchen appliances can be relevant when cockroaches are suspected. An inspection needs practical access while avoiding damage to plumbing, electrical connections or gas fittings.

Explain the layout

Tell the technician which appliances are integrated, what can be moved safely and where leaks have occurred. Do not disconnect appliances or open electrical housings yourself. Clear loose items around accessible floor edges.

Review conditions as part of the plan

Food residues and moisture can support activity, so cleaning and maintenance recommendations may accompany treatment. Ask how to report further sightings and which areas must remain undisturbed afterwards. The aim is to deal with the conditions and hiding places identified during inspection, rather than focusing only on insects visible on the worktop.

Tell the contractor about planned repairs

A plumber or appliance engineer may need to address a leak or damaged connection. Agree how access and maintenance fit around the pest work. The cleaning and treatment plan should remain consistent while trades attend, with any movement of equipment or monitoring devices discussed beforehand.
