Capture the pattern
Note when the insects appeared, where they gathered and whether they came through a particular opening. Photograph from a safe position and ask about retaining a sample. Avoid opening floors or spraying electrical fittings to investigate.
Discuss the evidence
Explain any earlier crawling-ant activity and whether the event has repeated. A single episode does not establish the extent of a building problem. Identification can help decide whether observation, further inspection or treatment is justified and whether any building openings deserve attention after the source has been assessed.
Keep an emergence point clear
Do not tape over a suspected opening or dismantle the surrounding material before advice. Record where the insects appear and whether it happens again. Preserving the location information allows an inspection to decide what further access is useful instead of losing the original pattern beneath a temporary repair.
