How to record rat activity between visits

A simple activity record helps a technician understand whether signs are changing after a visit. It also avoids relying only on memory when sightings happen in different parts of the property.

Keep each entry specific

Write down the date, approximate time, room or outdoor location and what you observed. Distinguish a live sighting from old damage or a noise that has not been identified. Photographs are useful when they can be taken without approaching the animal.

Leave monitoring in place

Do not move professional equipment, add products or change its contents. Tell the technician if a station is damaged or accessible to a child or pet. Follow the agreed instructions and bring your record to the next visit so any adjustment is based on consistent evidence.

Include quiet days in the record

A note that no fresh signs were noticed is useful when the check was made consistently. It is not proof that activity has ended. Record the area checked and keep to the agreed routine so the contractor can compare observations across the period between visits.
