Pest treatment re-entry times: ask about the method being used

The time to stay out of a treated area depends on the method, product and conditions. A waiting period from an earlier job or another household should not be reused without checking.

Get written instructions

Ask which rooms are affected, when people and pets may return and whether ventilation or other steps are required. Mention particular access needs before the visit so they can be considered in the plan. Follow the product-specific and professional instructions.

Clarify preparation and cleaning

Check what needs covering or removing and when cleaning can resume. Do not assume that all surfaces or belongings have been treated. If an instruction is unclear, contact the contractor before re-entering or changing the routine. A precise aftercare sheet is more useful than a universal number of hours.

Check the whole household plan

Arrange where occupants and pets will be while restrictions apply, and confirm how access will be managed. If the instructions cannot be followed, discuss that before work begins. The plan should be workable for your property rather than relying on an assumed arrangement that has never been confirmed.
