When a drain survey may help a recurring rat problem

Repeated rat activity without an obvious surface entrance can justify checking drainage. A camera survey is an investigation tool, not proof in advance that a particular drain is the cause.

Look at the history

Bring dates of treatments, locations of sightings and any available drainage plans. Mention building extensions, redundant connections or recent drain repairs. These details help decide whether a survey is appropriate and which parts of the system warrant attention.

Ask for clear findings

A useful report should distinguish observed defects from suspected routes and explain what further work is recommended. Camera visibility and access can limit an inspection. Any repair or protective fitting should suit the actual pipe arrangement and preserve drainage performance, rather than being chosen solely from the appearance of an open chamber.

Do not assume one survey sees everything

A camera may not reach a branch or obtain a clear view of a particular connection. Ask the operator to record those limits and explain whether further access is needed. A report that identifies uncertainty is more useful than treating an uninspected section as confirmed clear.
