Bait station locations: why an accurate site plan helps

A clear monitoring and bait-station plan helps a business and its pest contractor identify locations consistently. It also prevents equipment from being moved casually during cleaning or maintenance.

Use stable references

Give each point a unique number and describe its position using a fixed feature such as a doorway or wall. Update the plan when the layout changes. Keep the equipment appropriate to the site and follow the contractor's instructions about access.

Report changes promptly

Tell the contractor if a station is damaged, missing or obstructed. Do not add bait or relocate equipment yourself. An accurate plan supports inspection records and follow-up discussions, making it easier to interpret activity at the same location over time rather than losing that history whenever furniture is rearranged.

Update locations after layout changes

A station beside a cupboard may become difficult to find after a refit. Use the reference number and amended plan rather than leaving its description unchanged. The contractor can then retain continuity of records while confirming whether the new layout needs different monitoring arrangements.
