Explain the pattern of activity
Describe species, regular landing areas, nearby food sources and operating hours. Mention public access, roof layouts and sensitive work areas. No deterrent should be selected simply because it has been used at a different property.
Ask how progress is assessed
Discuss visit arrangements, records of bird activity and any complementary housekeeping or proofing recommendations. The contractor must consider wildlife protections and site safety. Ask how the programme will be reviewed if behaviour changes, rather than expecting one visit to produce a permanent result regardless of the surrounding conditions.
Include neighbouring influences
Birds may use a wider area than the site receiving visits. Describe nearby feeding, waste storage and regular landing locations that you can observe safely. These conditions help the contractor explain what the programme can influence and where complementary maintenance or housekeeping may be required.
