Assess the contamination
Explain whether the material is on a roof, wall, balcony or pavement and whether it affects public access. Do not dry-sweep or pressure-wash deposits yourself. Access, nearby occupants and waste handling affect the cleaning plan.
Assess continuing bird use
Record regular landing or nesting locations. Ask whether lawful proofing is practical after cleaning and whether permissions are needed. The proposal should describe both the cleaning scope and any recommended anti-roosting work, with a maintenance arrangement for the fitted system rather than a promise that the surface will never need attention again.
Distinguish cleaning from repairs
Staining, damaged surfaces and accumulated deposits are separate issues. Ask what the cleaning can reasonably address and whether building maintenance is also needed. A clear scope avoids assuming that removal of material repairs every roof, wall or drainage defect beneath it.
