Wasp activity in a loft: preparing for professional access

A suspected loft nest can be difficult to reach and should not be investigated by climbing through insulation or stored belongings. The technician needs accurate access information before deciding how to inspect or treat it.

Describe the access

Explain the hatch position, ladder arrangement, boarding and lighting. Tell the contractor about low headroom, wiring or items blocking the opening. Do not enter to clear the loft if that would take you near suspected activity.

Keep the household informed

Mention where wasps have appeared inside and whether bedrooms connect to the loft. Ask which rooms need to remain clear during the visit. Suitable access and method-specific instructions help the job proceed safely without assuming that every nest can be reached from the hatch.

Report wasps inside separately

Note which rooms they enter and whether windows were open at the time. That helps distinguish indoor sightings from a confirmed route into a roof void. Do not close internal gaps or open roof fittings while trying to trace the insects without professional advice.
